Leicester Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan - April 2024
What a blast! Sikh Motorcycle Club UK cruised into the Nottingham Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan this past Sunday, April 21st. It was an incredible experience for everyone, especially since it was our second year participating!
The procession was exceptionally well-managed, the weather was perfect, and the sangat (community) was simply amazing. We even got to fuel up on the delicious langar (community meals) offered by so many stalls along the way.
But the best part? Reconnecting with old friends and making tons of new ones! We even welcomed 6 new members who joined us for the ride and were blown away by the love and support shown to Sikh riders. The whole event was filmed by Sikh Channel, Akaal Channel, and PBC Channel, so keep an eye out for that! All in all, an unforgettable day!

Seva came first this time, but the spirit was strong even without their bikes. They paid their respects to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and followed the Palki Sahib Ji with pride.
This follows fantastic showings at Derby and Nottingham Nagar Kirtan the past two Sundays! A great way for the whole family to celebrate their faith.
Sikh Motorcycle Club UK Makes Historic Derby Debut. 14 April - 2024
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK roared into the record books today with their history-making participation in the Derby Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan. For the first time ever, the procession proudly included motorcycles, thanks to a united effort from all the members.
This marked a momentous occasion, breaking new ground for the Derby Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan. The Sangat (community) embraced the
Sikh Motorcycle Club UK with open arms, showering them with warm welcomes and enthusiastic photo requests. The impressive display of motorcycles parked after the Nagar Kirtan drew further admiration.
Electric Atmosphere, Delighted Community
“The atmosphere was electric,” remarked a club member. “The Sangat was so happy to see us there, and we were honoured to be a part of this special celebration.”
Indeed, the event pulsated with joyous music, heartfelt devotion, and an unwavering community spirit. Delicious food and perfect weather only amplified the positive vibes. Huge thanks to all the Derby Gurdwaras and the Nagar Kirtan management team.
Promoting Sikhism, Building Brotherhood

Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Leicester. Mar - 2024
Today, the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK brought smiles to the faces of children at Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Leicester. Our members proudly displayed their motorcycles, set up an informative stand, and generously served complimentary drinks and sweets to the sangat.
Blessed with beautiful weather, the event was a resounding success. The team from Sikh Channel captured the entire day, and a broadcast will be announced at a later date.

Sikh Motorcycle Club UK Spreads Kindness and Shares Their Stories with BBC. Dec 2023
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK had the pleasure of working alongside the Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS) to provide food and support to those in need at their Saturday meal distribution at St. Peter’s Church in Leicester yesterday.This charitable endeavor was also the setting for an interview with BBC journalist Jonny Meah, who eagerly delved into the Club’s ongoing projects and the motivations behind their selfless service.
For the Sikh Motorcycle Club membes, seva is not merely a religious obligation; it is a way of life, a means of connecting with the community and making a positive impact on the lives of others. Their participation in the MLSS’s Saturday feed is just one example of their ongoing commitment to serving those in need.
During the BBC interview, SMCUK members shared their personal experiences with Jonny Meah, highlighting the profound sense of fulfillment and satisfaction they derive from their charitable work. They spoke of the transformative power of seva, not just for those who receive assistance but also for those who give it.
As the filming concluded, the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK members expressed their gratitude to Ginda Basra and his team of MLSS, for his tireless dedication to providing essential services to those in need. They commended his selfless spirit and acknowledged the immense impact of MLSS’s work.
Sikh Motorcycle Club UK Pays Respects at Remembrance Day Service - Nov 2023
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK proudly participated in the Remembrance Day service held at Victoria Park Leicester on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The service, held at the Sikh Memorial, paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Sikh community who have served and sacrificed for their country.
The Sikh community has a long and distinguished history of military service, dating back to the time of the British Raj. Sikhs have fought bravely in numerous conflicts, including World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. Their courage, skill, and determination have earned them a place of honour in the annals of British military history.
The bravery of the Sikh soldiers at Saragarhi is a testament to their unwavering courage and commitment to duty.
In recognition of their selfless sacrifice, Sikh soldiers were awarded the Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award of the time. Their story is an enduring reminder of the Sikh community’s unwavering commitment to serving their country and upholding the highest values of honour, courage, and sacrifice.
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK is proud to honour the legacy of these fallen heroes and to continue to serve the community through their various charitable initiatives. Their participation in the Remembrance Day service is a fitting tribute to the Sikh community’s long and distinguished history of military service.
Gurdwara Sahib Inauguration - Leicester - Oct 2023
Members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK attended the official inauguration of the Gurdwara Sahib at Guru Ramdas Way in Leicester on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The ceremony began with an Ardas, a Sikh prayer, followed by the planting of a tree to mark the occasion. Various dignitaries attended the event, including a representative of King Charles III, who conveyed a special message via The Lord-Lieutenant Michael Kapur OBE.
The inauguration of the new Gurdwara Sahib is a significant event for the Sikh community in Leicester. The Gurdwara Sahib will serve as a place of worship and community gathering for Sikhs in the city. The Sikh Motorcycle Club is proud to have been a part of this important occasion. The inauguration of the new Gurdwara Sahib is a testament to the growing Sikh community in Leicester.

Sikh Motorcycle Club UK Takes Part in Annual Guru Nanak Charity Walk - Oct 2023
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK took part in an annual Guru Nanak Charity walk from Nottingham to Derby. Over 60 children and parents joined in the walk, raising funds for BBC Children in Need.
The group walked through the beautiful countryside, stopping at Collyer’s Nurseries (Borrowash) for a break. The lovely staff welcomed them and offered them hot drinks. The motorcyclists had good conversations with each other and with other visitors, who recognised them from their appearance on Henry Cole’s show and from their recent visit to the National Arboretum Memorial.
The children really enjoyed seeing the motorcycles and sitting on them for photos. It was heartwarming to see Pudsey Bear giving hugs to everyone.
The Guru Nanak walk is an annual event that celebrates the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The walk is a way for Sikhs to come together and show their devotion to their faith. It is also a way to raise awareness of Sikhism and to promote community spirit.
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK is a group of Sikh motorcyclists who enjoy riding together and promoting Sikhism. The club is open to all Sikhs, regardless of their age, gender, or experience.
The walk from Nottingham to Derby was a great success, On this day, the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big impact.
Ride to the Wall - Oct 2023
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK took part in the Ride to the Wall event. Members from Leicester, Nottingham, Northampton and West Midlands took part and paid their respects to the fallen heroes. We took our children with us to bring awareness to our next generation. It was a great day, with great weather, and it was good to see some old and new friends.
We are proud to be part of the Ride to the Wall event every year. It is a powerful and moving experience to ride together with so many other bikers, all paying our respects to those who have served and sacrificed for our country. It is also a great opportunity to teach our children about the importance of remembrance and gratitude.
This year, the weather was perfect for the ride. The sun was shining and the roads were dry. We had a great ride through the countryside, and it was especially nice to see so many families and children taking part.
When we arrived at the National Memorial Arboretum, we were greeted by a sea of motorcycles. The atmosphere was electric, and there was a real sense of camaraderie among the riders. We paid our respects at the Armed Forces Memorial, and then we enjoyed the rest of the day exploring the arboretum and meeting other riders.
We are grateful to everyone who helped to make the Ride to the Wall event such a success. It was a truly memorable day, and we are proud to have been a part of it.
Trip to wales - Sept 2023
Sikh Motorcycle Club UK Embarks on a Weekend Adventure in Wales
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, a crisp Saturday morning, nine members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK set off from Leicester, ready for a weekend adventure in Wales. With their engines revving and their spirits high, they set off on a journey to explore the breath-taking scenery and winding roads of the Welsh countryside.
Their route took them across Mid Wales and North Wales, through the heart of Snowdonia National Park. They passed through charming villages and picturesque towns, marvelling at the snow-capped peaks of Mount Snowdon and the lush valleys below.
Along the way, they stopped at scenic spots to take photos and soak up the natural beauty of Wales. They captured stunning images of waterfalls, lakes, and mountains, as well as the iconic Llanberis Pass, Pont Pen-y-benglog and Cymdeithas Genweirwyr Dyffryn Ogwen.
The weekend ride was a fantastic opportunity for the club members to bond and create lasting memories. They enjoyed riding together on winding roads, exploring new places, and capturing the beauty of Wales on camera.
As the sun began to set on Sunday evening, the club members reluctantly started their journey back to Leicester. But they knew that they would never forget their weekend adventure in Wales.
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK is a group of passionate riders who love to explore the open road and create beautiful memories together. Their weekend ride to Wales was just one example of the many adventures they have had over the years.

Remembrance Day 2022 - Remembering our Heroes
Sikh Motorcycle Club UK taking part in Remembrance Day service held at Victoria Park Leicester.
Sikhs have made a long and valuable contribution to the British Army and a unique respect for each other’s courage, skill and determination has led to a proud, shared military heritage. On 12th September 1897 in an ultimate test of devotion to duty, 21 British Indian Army Sepoys (Sikh soldiers) defended the Saragarhi outpost in the hills of the North West Frontier Province (now Pakistan but then part of British India), against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen.
Rather than surrender, the soldiers fought to the death against impossible odds for nearly 10 hours with basic ammunition and bayonets. Although the outpost was lost, the Afghans later admitted to having lost around 180 of their soldiers with many more wounded, demonstrating the expertise of the Sikh warriors. To honour the selfless commitment and courage of these Sikh soldiers they were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award of the time.

Leicester Nagar Kirtan - 20th Nov 2022
Thousands of Sikhs made their way through Leicester city centre this weekend to celebrate Nagar Kirtan.
The religious procession celebrates the birthday of the founder and first guru of Sikhism, Nanak Dev Ji.
The parade started on East Park Road just before midday on Sunday before making its way through the city to the Gurdwara on Holy Bones – with dozens of langar stalls along the route offering free food and refreshments.
The procession, which has been held in Leicester since 1986, is attended by up to 10,000 Sikhs each year.

Statue honouring Sikh soldiers unveiled in Leicester on 30th October 2022
A statue of a Sikh soldier has been unveiled in Leicester to honour Sikhs who fought for the UK in conflicts around the world.
The bronze figure on a granite plinth went on display in Victoria Park on Sunday.
The Sikh Troops War Memorial Committee said it would complement the existing war memorials.
Sikhs made up more than 20% of the British Indian Army during the outbreak of World War One.
The statue was created by artist Taranjit Singh and paid for with council funding and donations from Sikh congregations.

Ride to the Wall - Oct 2022
Ride To The Wall began in 2008 with over 2000 motorcycles paying tribute to Britain’s fallen since the second world war and takes place annually in October.
RTTW is a unique motorcycling event which gives motorcyclists an opportunity to gather together at a place of remembrance, to pay their respects to our serving and fallen service men and women and in doing so, raise funds solely for the purpose of perpetuating their memory and recognising the sacrifice made.
Our members took part this year to remember and pay respect.

Lorries, tractors and motorbikes parade through city streets to protest Indian farming law reforms - Nov 2020
Car and Motorcycle rally to show support and solidarity against the three controversial farm bills passed by the Indian Government without following constitutional parliamentary procedures.
More than 500 people stood in solidarity with farmers in India who have been protesting for more than a week.
Thousands of people lined the streets in their cars for a rally around the city yesterday in protest of law reforms that are set to be passed in India.
Reforms to the farming laws in India are have drawn criticism for their negative affect on already struggling farmers, many of whom have taken to the streets to protest against them. In the last week, images of protests erupting into clashes with Indian police have circulated across social media.
In Leicester, Indian communities showed solidarity by staging a rally of hundreds of vehicles, organised by the city’s Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara youth group on Sunday, 6 December.
Starting at the Gurdwara in East Park Road in North Evington cars, motorbikes, lorries and even a tractor paraded through city streets. The route was agreed with Leicester Police prior to the demonstration.
